The Whitney Museum of American Art

New York, NY

Located adjacent to the High Line in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, The Whitney Museum of American Art features an asymmetrical nine-story building with tiers of terraces, including a dramatic cantilever to the south of the structure. Banker Steel provided 3,400 tons of structural steel to this addition that expanded the exhibition and program space. To achieve the design’s open concept, column-free floor plan, long span trusses were utilized. Architecturally exposed structural steel and custom HSS sections were also used to achieve the design aesthetics while providing the required structural support.
